Tryon Farm Institute conducted a prescribed burn on April 23, 2014, of ~3 acres of restored native prairie as part of its continuous land management operations.
The affected area was scheduled to be burned as part of a cooperative partnership with TFI and the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) through a Wildlife Habitat Improvement Program (WHIP) multi-year cost-share agreement.
Special thanks to Linda Byer of Indiana Dept. of Natural Resources (DNR) for authoring our burn plan, to the cooperation of the Michigan City Fire Department, and to the burn crew from Shirley Heinze Land Trust who performed the operation flawlessly.
